PURPOSE: A laundry amount detecting apparatus for a washing machine is provided to detect the amount of the laundry accurately by generating electromotive force evenly from inertial rotation after conducting and turning off a motor and by measuring the signal generating time. CONSTITUTION: A laundry amount detecting device of a washing machine is composed of a power separation unit(10) dividing power into a strong power portion and a weak power portion; a smooth unit(20) smoothing a signal from the power separation unit; and a control unit(30) detecting the laundry amount of the washing machine by measuring the remaining time of signals with receiving waveform from the smooth unit. Electromotive force from inertial rotation, immediately after conducting the motor, is smoothed, and the pulse remaining time is measured. The water level is decided properly by detecting the laundry amount accurately. |
