PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary encoder having a simple structure and implementable at a low cost. SOLUTION: The rotary encoder consists of a circuit board 1 having a required circuit pattern, two push switches 2 and 3 arranged on the circuit board 1, a rotation operation part 4, two switch driving members 5 and 6 for moving up and down in accordance with rotation operation of the rotation operation part 4 and performing pushing operation of movable parts 2a and 3a of the respective push switches 2 and 3, and a supporting member 7 for supporting the rotation operation part 4 and the switch driving members 5 and 6.
