PURPOSE: An abbreviated dial display method and a mobile phone adopting the method are provided to allow a user to easily make a phone call with a desired phone number by setting an abbreviated dial with numerics. CONSTITUTION: A controller(200) controls entire functions of a mobile phone, executes a program for an abbreviated dial function, provides an image for setting and releasing an abbreviated dial, and stores set information in a memory unit. A key pad(210) includes function buttons and general buttons used to select and input the abbreviated dial function and delivers a user's instruction to the controller(200). A display unit(220) provides the image for setting and releasing the abbreviated dial, executes the abbreviated dial function when the abbreviated dial is set and a corresponding number is inputted from the user, and displays a name and a phone number on a screen. A memory unit(230) stores a program for driving the abbreviated dial function, abbreviated number set information, and a program for implementing several basic functions, and has a phone book storing the phone number to be used as the abbreviated dial and personal information. An audio converter(240) processes a voice recorded by the user through a microphone to a data and transfers the data to the controller(200), or processes a data received from an external source and outputs an analog voice through a speaker. A radio circuit unit(250) receives a phone call or a character message and transfers it to the controller(200), or transfers an automatic response message to a phone of a caller.
