PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an optical disk by generating a recording signal (modulation data) wherein low-frequency fluctuation generated from a nonlinear distortion component is canceled by considering a secondary nonlinear distortion component when a margin bit is set. SOLUTION: For a modulation pattern as a recording signal, a DC component estimated value DV is obtained based on a DC unequilibrium value (DSV) and an edge generation value (ESV), and the modulation pattern is changed in accordance with the DC component estimated value DV. Thus, fluctuation caused by secondary nonlinear distortion is reduced in a signal outputted from a pickup during reproducing, and stable information reproduction is carried out while the quality of a reproducing signal is good.
