PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polymer particles which has well-balanced mechanical characteristics such as hardness and breaking strength, can widely control the particle diameters and facilitates preparation of the particles with a narrow particle size distribution, a process for producing the polymer particles, and the use thereof. SOLUTION: The polymer particles of a vinyl polymer contains inorganic particles comprising particles of a polysiloxane having a (meth)acryloxy group. The process for producing the polymer particles involves an absorption step of allowing inorganic particles comprising particles of a polysiloxane having a (meth)acryloxy group to absorb a monomer component comprising essentially a radical-polymerizable vinyl monomer, and a polymerization step of subjecting the monomer component absorbed in the absorption step to radical polymerization.
