PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new epoxy compound simultaneously having a low viscosity and a tetrafunctional structure, and to provide a method for producing the epoxy compound in a high yield and in a high purity. SOLUTION: This new epoxy compound represented by formula (1), namely 1,1,1,1-tetra(glycidyloxymethyl)methane.
