PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new intermediate useful for simplifying production of a phenolic cyan pigment producing coupler and saving cost and provide a synthetic path for the same. SOLUTION: This 2-amino-5-acylamino-4-substituted phenol compound is expressed by structural formula I (wherein Y and R' are each a substituent). This method for using the compound expressed by formula I includes an acylation process to add an R"CO (R" expresses an alkyl, a haloalkyl, an aryl, a heteroaryl, an arylamino or a heteroarylamino) group to the amine at 2 position.
