PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized lens driving unit. SOLUTION: The lens driving unit is equipped with a front lens 2, a front support frame 3 which supports the front lens 2, a front coil 4 which is fitted to the front support frame 3, a front feeder 5 which is fitted to the front support frame 3, a rear lens 6, a rear support frame 7 which supports the rear lens 6, a rear coil 8 which is fitted to the inner circumferential part of the rear support frame 7, a rear feeder 9 which is fitted to the rear support frame 7, a magnet 10, a magnet support 21, and a yoke 11. The front coil 4 is arranged in the outside gap between the magnet 10 and yoke 11, the rear coil 8 is arranged in the inside gap between the magnet 10 and yoke 11, and the magnetic flux densities of the outside and inside gaps are varied along an axis; and the front and rear coils 4 and 8 have two coils 31 and 32 arranged one over the other along the axis. Currents are applied to the two coils 31 and 32 so that their electromagnetic forces operated in mutually attracting direction, a current is applied to the front coil 4 to position the front lens 2, and a current is applied to the rear coil 8 to position the rear lens 6.
