PURPOSE: A variable capacity compressor is provided to prevent interference with electronic components by restricting noise, and to install the compressor easily by excluding the use of an inverter. CONSTITUTION: A variable capacity compressor comprises a casing(11) forming the storage space; a compression unit(21) arranged in the casing and composed of a rotating shaft(22) with compressing refrigerant; a constant speed motor(31) arranging a rotating shaft(33) perpendicularly to the lower part of the compression unit; a motor disk(25) rotatably and integrally combined with the rotating shaft of the compression unit; a driving disk(37) rotatably and integrally combined with the rotating shaft of the motor and contacted to the motor disk to rotate the motor disk; and a disk sliding unit moving the driving disk around the motor disk to vary the rotational speed of the motor disk. The compressor is installed easily by excluding the use of the inverter.
