FIELD: production of heat insulating molded products, possibly in metallurgical, aircraft and rocket manufacture, power production industry branches such as nuclear, metal working and others. SUBSTANCE: method for making fibrous molded products comprises steps of loosening mineral fibers in water; agitating them with binder in the form of aluminum sulfate and aqueous solution of ammonium; casting prepared hydraulic mass in mold of vacuum press; shaping and drying; according to invention simultaneously realizing fiber loosening and agitating them with binder at rate 1350 - 1450 rev/min; performing drying at temperature 230 - 270 C for 7 - 9 hours at rate of heating article no more than 1 C/min; cooling it until 50 - 60 C at rate no more than 5 C/min; using basalt fibers as mineral fibers; preparing hydraulic mass at next relation of ingredients (mass p.): basalt fibers, 115 - 155; 20% aqueous solution of ammonium, 9 - 12; aluminum sulfate per 10 000 mass p. of water, 7 - 21; using kaolin fibers as mineral fibers; preparing hydraulic mass at next relation of ingredients (mass p.): kaolin fibers, 310 - 370; (20 - 25)% aqueous solution of ammonium, 45 - 47; aluminum sulfate per 10 000 mass p. of water, 28 - 43; additionally adding to hydraulic mass containing kaolin fibers 45 -60 mass p. of refractory clay.
