PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small article storing device with a lid energized by an energizing means to be rotated and simultaneously lowered to open, in which a damper effect of a rotary damper can be obtained in the whole area of the opening operation of the lid. SOLUTION: This small article storing device 10 includes a box 20, a lid 30, an energizing means 40, a lock means 50, and a braking means 60. A first center c of rotation in opening and closing operation of the lid 30 and a second center d of rotation in drawing operation to lower the lid 30 succeeding the opening and closing operation are provided between the box 20 and the lid 30. The braking means 60 is formed by a gear 131 connected to a damper shaft of the rotary damper 130 and a rack 140 where the gear 131 meshes. The rack 140 is provided with a first circular-arc surface 141 around the first center c of rotation and a second circular-arc surface 142 connected to the first circular-arc surface 141 around the second center d of rotation.
