PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display monitor device equipped with a detecting device for automatically identifying the forms of an analog video signal and a digital video signal whichever signal is inputted without inputting them to the display monitor device. SOLUTION: The display monitor device 506 which is provided with an input part for the analog video signal and digital video signal, the detecting device 511 automatically identifying the analog video signal or digital video signal from an inputted signal, a ROM 507 storing characteristic data corresponding to the respective signals, and a switching part 510 selecting one of an analog characteristic data part 508 and a digital characteristic data part 509 corresponding to the respective signals according to the detection result of the detecting device 511 and reproduces images corresponding to the respective signals, detects a vertical synchronizing signal or horizontal synchronizing signal included in the analog video signal as a switching signal for the switching part 510 and reads out the characteristic data corresponding to the form of the inputted video signal.
