METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY ANIMATING THREE-DIMENSIONAL SCAN FACE DATA

PURPOSE: A method for automatically animating three-dimensional scan face data is provided to find characteristic points of a face using range scan data of a three-dimensional face model to simplify the face model and perform face animation through the simplified face model. CONSTITUTION: A contour is detected from a texture image using three-dimensional face scan data as input data(S10). Characteristic points in a geometrical model are extracted through the detected contour and texture coordinates of the geometrical model(S30). Weights are given to the extracted characteristic points and quadric error in the geometrical model is obtained to maintain the characteristic points as many as the number of inputs, and simplification of the face model is carried out(S60). Expressing re-targeting is applied in order to animate the simplified face model to perform desired animation(S120).
