PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supervisory/control adapter capable of flexibly and immediately dealing with a novel service addition, a device specification change and a change in network configuration. SOLUTION: In the operation support system for integrally managing a network for realizing services on an IP network composed of a plurality of different venders and a plurality of different devices, the supervisory/control adapter existent inside is provided with a common part for making common the difference of device classes/ vender classes with respect to a supervisory program and a control program for the devices and a vender individual part for performing conversion to processing intrinsic for the device class/vender class. Then, the vender individual part makes a fault message intrinsic for a device outputted from the device corresponding to a common fault model while paying attention to hardware configuration and software configuration in advance inside the operation support system and discards an unwanted fault message without performing the conversion. Then, the control program performs a request to the device by utilizing processing making common the difference of the device classes/vender classes provided from the common part to the control program and the common part is provided with a means for distributing the request from the control program to the vender individual part according to the device class/vender class.
