PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly stop an internal combustion engine at a target turning angle position. SOLUTION: A stop control device of the internal combustion engine controls injection of fuel so that the internal combustion engine is stopped at preset turning angle position. This device is equipped with an intake restraining means (step S5) for restraining an intake volume for the final injection of the fuel smaller than that of idling operation, without misfire.
