1. A rechargeable battery unit comprising:
an electrode assembly comprising a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator between the first electrode and the second electrode; a case accommodating the electrode assembly, wherein the case includes an opening in a first end of the case and at least one groove in the first end of the case; a cap plate coupled to the first end of the case closing the opening, wherein the cap plate has an inner side facing the electrode assembly, an outer side opposite the inner side, and lateral sides between the inner and the outer side, and with two long and two short lateral sides, and wherein the cap plate includes at least one protrusion accommodated in the at least one groove in the case, the protrusion projecting from one of the lateral sides and parallel to the inner side; and a weld bead comprising:
a first weld bead extending along the at least one groove and the at least one protrusion; anda second weld bead extending along a remainder of a joint between the cap plate and the case. |
