PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a URL (uniform resource locator) management system and a URL management server capable of reducing inconvenience caused when URLs of a homepage is changed. SOLUTION: The URL management system is provided with a homepage server 20 storing homepage contents, the URL management server 30 for associating the URL of a homepage with an intermediate URL corresponding to the URL, and a retrieval server 40 in which information on the contents of the homepage is associated with the intermediate URL to be registered. The retrieval server 40 transmits the intermediate URL in response to the matter that retrieval based on the information on the contents of the homepage is requested, and the URL management server 30 converts an access destination into the URL of such a homepage in response to the matter that access using the intermediate URL is requested. Thus, no registered contents of each retrieval engine have to be changed even when URLs of the homepage are changed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
