PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, with which a product having a low content of high-boiling impurities such as dialkylene glycol monoesters, etc., and a method for producing the hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate. SOLUTION: The method for purifying the hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate comprises sending a feed solution being the hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate containing the high-boiling impurities to a film evaporator, separating the feed solution into a distillate containing mainly the hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate and bottoms containing the high-boiling impurities, taking out them from the film evaporator, mixing the bottoms with the feed solution and resending the mixture to the thin evaporator.
