MULTIPLEX CONVERTER, DEMULTIPLEX CONVERTER AND MULTIPLEX TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a plurality of 8B/10B bit streams using an ordinary network packet without requiring a leased line. SOLUTION: The multiplex converter 1 multiplexes a plurality of 8B/10B bit streams 51-5N following to 8B/10B decoding and 64B/65B encoding and then adds a 7 bit CRC and a required overhead thereto thus composing a packet being delivered on a packet transmission line 4. The demultiplex converter 2 removes the overhead from a packet received through the packet transmission line 4, detects a bit error using the CRC and then performs 64B/65B decoding, rate regulation and 8B/10B encoding to recover the original 8B/10B bit streams being delivered to respective channels 31-3N.
