A cushioning material, comprising two sheets of flexible sheets (11, 12) and an extendable sheet (15) held between the flexible sheets, wherein the flexible sheets and the extendable sheet are fused or stuck to each other through multiple lines parallel with each other with the extendable sheet not retracted and, when the extendable sheet retracts, the flexible sheets are formed in tubular bodies (21) of generally circular shape in cross section and the fused parts (20) or the stuck parts of the flexible sheets hold an outward expansion force (arrow (b)) so that a cushioning action can be provided against impact and pressure, the extendable sheet being formed with a material having a thermal contractility and shape restorability, whereby, when a bag body is manufactured by using the cushioning material with the thermally contracting sheet, an article can be held pressingly by contracting the thermally contracting sheet after the article is stored therein. |
