PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin care preparation preventing pigmentation containing a compound of the general formula 1 and excellent in safety to living body, stability with time of the composition, and the effectiveness of inhibiting or mitigating pigmentation, in view of the fact that the compound of general formula 1 has been reported to have biological effects derived from its antioxidative ability such as preventing ischemic reperfusion disorders in the heart and based on the finding that skin care preparations formulated with this compound have the effects of not only preventing or mitigating ultraviolet-derived pigmentation but also effectively preventing or mitigating skin pigmentation derived from rough skin or inflammation. SOLUTION: The skin care preparation contains the compound of general formula 1 (R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>are each selected from at least one among hydrogen atom, alkyl group, acyl group, ethylene oxide group, alkali metal and alkaline earth metal, etc.); wherein the compound includes its salt and derivative.
