PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery having a large discharge capacity and excellent charge discharge cycle performance, and to provide a production method therefor, and a lithium secondary battery using that positive electrode active material.SOLUTION: A lithium transition metal composite oxide is particles having a core and a surface layer, the mol ratio Ni/Me of Ni in the transition metal (Me) in the core satisfies a relation 0.4≤Ni/Me≤0.8, the mol ratio Ni/Me in the transition metal (Me) in the surface layer satisfies a relation 0.1≤Ni/Me≤0.4, and the value obtained by dividing the half width value ratio F(003)/F(104) in the 4.45 V(vs.Li/Li) by the half width value ratio F(003)/F(104) in the 2.0 V(vs.Li/Li) is 0.9-1.1 in the positive electrode active material for lithium secondary battery.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
