PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for an electronic component which can secure a contact stability even with fluctuation in volumes of protrusion downward of terminals of the electronic component, free from lowering of operation and damage on the terminals. SOLUTION: The socket is provided with a base plate, a plate-like elastic member 14 fitted on the base plate, a tab film 15 fitted on the elastic member 14, taking a deformable sheet-like shape with a plurality of contacts 15a arranged at a given interval on a top face and a pressure member pressing an IC package 12 mounted on the tab film 15 and having a soldering ball 12a made in contact with the contacts 15a. The elastic member 14 has an elastic deforming part 14b each at a position corresponding with each contact 15a of the tab film 15, and the elastic deforming part 14b is so structured to elastically deform each in an independent state by a pressing force from each contact 15a of the tab film 15.
