The coolant jacket envelopes the oil drain and is positioned to provide coolant to the turbocharger bearing housing and draw heat from the oil draining through the oil drain to prevent coking of hot oil within the oil drain.

A method, comprising: supplying oil to a turbocharger from an engine block of a V engine with inbound exhaust conduits, the turbocharger positioned between banks of the V engine; draining oil from the turbocharger back to the engine block via an oil drain extending from the turbocharger to an oil sump; and directing coolant from the V engine to the turbocharger, through a coolant jacket located peripherally around a region of the oil drain external to a turbocharger housing, wherein the coolant jacket is coaxial with the region of the oil drain external to the turbocharger housing.
