PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve smoothness in rotary motion, seizing resistance and abrasion resistance of a roller in a cam follower having the roller on which a cam is abutted. SOLUTION: The roller 4 is rotatably attached on an outside diameter part of a support shaft 3 bridged between a pair of sidewalls 6 and 7 of a body 2. A plain surface 4a and a conical surface 4b are provided on both end faces of the roller 4. Thus, during rotation of the roller, when one end face of the roller 4 is pressed on one of the sidewalls 6 or 7, a contact area is smaller than that in a conventional cam follower with the roller 4 having the plain surface on both entire end faces, and contact stress and local concentration are prevented more comparing to the conventional cam follower with the roller 4 having the conical surface on both entire end faces, in spite that the plain surface 4a of the roller 4 is brought into sliding contact on an inside surface of one of the sidewalls 6 or 7 in surface.
