PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing a 1,4-aminonaphthol derivative in high yield at a low cost. SOLUTION: The method for producing the 1,4-aminonaphthol derivative comprises using 1,4-aminonaphthol as a raw material. Since the 1,4- aminonaphthol which is the raw material is readily oxidized, a large amount of impurities is present and adversely affects the subsequent reaction. Thereby, the impurities are separated by isolating the 1,4-aminonaphthol in a state of protected amino group and hydroxy group by acylation (preferably acetylation). Thereby, the 1,4-aminonaphthol derivative can stably be produced in high yield. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
