PURPOSE: A data inquiry relay service system and method is provided to offer a stable and speedy payment data inquiry service to a payment processor over the internet. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises credit card processing terminals(11-15), a relay server(60), the internet(50), a VAN(30), and card company servers(41, 42). The credit card processing terminals(11-15), installed at affiliated stores, are connected to the relay server(60) over the internet(50). The relay server(60) transmits the credit card data to the VAN(30) including plural VAN servers(31, 32, 33). The VAN(30) transmits the credit card data to the card company servers(41, 42), and the card company servers(41, 42) approve the transmitted card data.
