PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filtering apparatus for carrying out filtering at high speed, a data-driven information processing apparatus, a filtering method, a filtering program and a mechanically readable recording medium with the filtering program recorded thereon. SOLUTION: In the filtering apparatus, a median 101 of image data 100 composed of nine pixel values arrayed on 3×3 windows is found. First of all, an input circuit 200 inputs the image data 100 and divides out the image data into groups each composed of three pixels and outputs them. Pixel values of the groups are sorted and outputted in the order of levels by sorters 204-206. With respect to the pixel values of the groups after sorting, while deciding maximum pixel values by data shifters 207-209, 211-213 and 215-217 and maximum value discriminators 229-230, the decided pixel values are shifted and removed from the corresponding groups. As a result, four pixel values from the largest ones are removed in the three groups. A sorter 219 outputs a maximum pixel value (median 101) from the remaining five pixel values.
