PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately set a cell gap in a highly precise manner during a pasting process of display panel manufacturing. SOLUTION: In the pasting method of display panel substrates, a positioning is conducted for a first substrate held by the first level block 40 side and a second substrate held by the second level block 48 side by interposing a seal material in a space between a first substrate 10 and a second substrate 12 which face each other. The method includes (1) a process in which the first substrate is held by a spacer section 42b of a substrate holding mechanism 42 provided on the first disk, (2) a process in which the gap between the surface that is on the opposite side of the surface forming a display cell region space of the first substrate 10 and the disk 40 is evacuated and the first substrate is sucked and held to the first fixed disk side, (3) a process in which pressing force is added to the first and the second substrates as well as between the substrates so as to determine a cell gap and (4) a process in which the seal material is hardened.
