PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neutral controller for a vehicle capable of maintaining a high cleaning efficiency of exhaust gas due to a catalyst by improving a fuel efficiency. SOLUTION: To improve the fuel efficiency, electronic controllers 30 and 40 perform a neutral control for forcedly moving an automatic transmission 10 to a state corresponding to a neutral when the prescribed conditions of the vehicle are satisfied while the shift position of the automatic transmission 10 is set to a driving position. The electronic controllers 30 and 40 control to perform and stop the neutral control depending on the temperature of the catalyst provided in the vehicle. Thus, the temperature of the catalyst can be maintained in a state in which the exhaust gas cleaning efficiency is high. Accordingly, while the high exhaust gas cleaning efficiency is maintained, the fuel efficiency can be improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
