PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce density irregularities to be generated at recording image ends by suppressing a change of a coloring material density at the time of starting recording also when high image quality recording is carried out to a record medium of a large size. SOLUTION: When multi-pass recording is carried out by scanning a recording head for jetting six kinds of ink of black, light cyan, cyan, light magenta, magenta and yellow by a plurality of the number of times to each recording region, the scanning is controlled to make the number of scanning times for recording with the use of dark ink of black, cyan and magenta smaller than the number of scanning times for recording with the use of light ink of light cyan, light magenta and yellow.
