PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a residual quantity of ink in an ink cartridge 405 being replaced. SOLUTION: The inkjet recorder comprises an ink end detecting section 412 for detecting the fact that ink held in an ink cartridge 405 decreased below a reference level, a section 492 for issuing an alarm when the ink end detecting section 412 detects the fact that ink held in the ink cartridge 405 decreased below the reference level, an ink supply end detecting section 460 for detecting the fact that ink held in the ink cartridge 405 decreased below the reference level and further decreased to such a level as ink cannot be fed to a head 44, and a section 494 for stopping recording on a recording matter 11 by means of the head 44 when the ink supply end detecting section 460 detects the fact that ink held in the ink cartridge 405 decreased to such a level as ink cannot be fed to the head 44.
