The skin (62) is progressively released from a reservoir un the control of a brake (24). A guide tube (26) is located especially between the brake (24) and brake extension. The diameter of guide-tube (26) is especially approximately the same as that of the smallest diameter of the sausage skin (62). The inner face o the guide-tube (26) bears a coating of lubricating agent preferably Teflon (TM).
