PURPOSE: A method for implementing an ATM line card is provided to allow for a wide variety of physical hierarchy interfaces, while reducing costs and minimizing the width of the device equipped with line cards. CONSTITUTION: An ATM card comprises a switch matching unit, a control unit, an ATM hierarchy processing unit, and a physical hierarchy unit. The physical hierarchy unit is divided into a common main board(200) and a physical hierarchy module(100), based on the utopia level 2 standard interface, and the common unit board is implemented into a printed circuit board, to thereby accommodate a wide variety of physical hierarchy interfaces.
