PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preventing method for illegal copy of a CD-ROM in which erroneous detection at the time of checking media is prevented, and problems such as interchangeability or the like are eliminated. SOLUTION: In this preventing method for illegal copy of a CD-ROM, bit scramble is eliminated or a SYNC pattern, a header, EDC, and ECC information are destroyed, in an arbitrary data sector of the CD-ROM. Thereby, a CD-ROM drive causes reading disable operation by disablement of ECC correction and causes an error. Destruction of information of a data sector is a processing at a yellow book level, a normal signal is recorded in the disk in a red book level.
