A water- and halogen free dispersion (I) comprises redispersable primary particle zinc oxide particles having a diameter of 1-200 nm and aminoalcohols. Independent claims are included for: (1) a process for the production of a zinc oxide dispersion (I) by stirring redispersable zinc oxide particles in an aminoalcohol or aminoalcohol containing water-free organic solvent and; (2) molded articles and coatings prepared using the dispersions (I).
