The method involves measuring directions and amount of speed of objects (2) e.g. driving goods, in an area of a liquid surface (1). Temporally and spatially highly dissolved object speed distribution is computed. Representative of surface speed of liquid e.g. milk, is computed. An area flowed by the liquid is determined from a value of an actual liquid level and a stored data record. The representative is multiplied with the area and a factor that is determined from the record whose values are derived from a numeric or an experimental calibration of a measuring point. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining surface speed and flow rate of liquids in pipelines, open or closed channels and water bodies. |
