PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clamp steadily an information recording medium to a reproducing part after transportation, in a vertical placement type information recording and reproducing device. SOLUTION: This device comprises: an information recording medium housing means which houses an information recording medium provided in a case in a vertical placement state; an information recording medium reproducing means provided being adjacent the information recording medium housing means and reproducing the selected information recording medium; an information recording medium carrying means carrying the information recording medium selected by the information recording medium housing means to the information recording medium reproducing means in a vertical placement state as it is; and a supporting part supporting the information recording medium carried to the information recording medium reproducing means. The supporting part places and supports temporarily the information recording medium until the carried information recording medium is clamped to the information recording medium reproducing means.
