PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of improving the reliability in the recorded data by performing chasing reproduction, at the same time, by verifying the recorded data, and by rewriting to a sector having poor quality. SOLUTION: A video and audio data recording and reproducing device includes a data quality determination means 201 for evaluating the quality of the data recorded based on demodulation data; and a changeover means 202 for changing over the input of the output of a demodulation means 109 to an error correction means 110 and that to the data quality determination means 201.
