MAGNETIC TAPE AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to wind the magnetic tape on a reel hub as smoothly as before even after travelling. SOLUTION: Winding the reel hub with the magnetic tape so as to make the plane of the wound tape side smooth is carried out with inclination toward the side the tape is thermally shrank by providing semi-permanent thermal shrinking to a base film by applying a temperature gradient under low tension (tension 2-50 g/cm) in the width direction of the magnetic tape. Moreover, the application of the temperature gradient is carried out to the magnetic tape travelling under low tension by a contacting or non-contacting heater means having certain temperature gradients in the width direction.
