PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for a battery with excellent thermal resistance and capable of rapid charging and heavy-current discharging. SOLUTION: In the separator for the battery, a thickness holding rate at 170°C is at least 40% of the thickness of the separator for the battery of 120°C when a plate having a tip diameter of 3. 0 mmϕis pressed by a pressure load of 2600 mN at a temperature rising rate of 5°C/min.
