PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable margin-less recording to also a recording medium which is not a predetermined size. SOLUTION: In the case of margin-less recording, recording is carried out slightly beyond the recording medium. Ink absorbers of a size corresponding to all nozzles are arranged on a platen of right and left end parts of the recording medium of the predetermined size. When the recording medium is the predetermined size, recording is carried out while the number of nozzles is limited at a leading end region and a rear end region, and recording is carried out by using all nozzles at an intermediate region.
