发明名称 Improvements relating to wireless control systems for dirigible craft
摘要 451,841. Distant-control systems. SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO., 40, Flatbush Avenue Extension, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Sperry, L. B.) March 31, 1924, No. 8111. Convention date, March 30, 1923. [Class 40 (i)] A wireless control system for gyro-regulated craft, particu. larly aerial torpedoes, in which the gyro-regulation is effected pneumatically, comprises selectively controlled means operating on the follow-up mechanism of the gyro-regulators for chang. ing the course of the craft. Bombs may also be released by the selective device. The pneu. matic gyro - regulating system is described in Specification 451,843, [Group XXIX] and will be understood from the rudder control shown in Fig. 1. The controlling gyroscope 1 carries an arcuate member 4 which exposes one or other of two nozzles 7 8 when the craft departs from its normal course. The nozzles communicate with opposite ends of cylinder 15 connected to a vacuum tank 11 so that piston 16 moves valve 20 to permit one or other of the bellows 30 31 to collapse and move the rudder 2. The member 33 operated by the bellows is connected to a link 37 which directly rotates the follow-up member 9 carrying the nozzles. The superimposed wireless control operates an air-motor 40 to rotate the follow-up member by means of worm 41. The elevator and aileron controls are similar. The selective control arrangements are shown in Figs. 4 and 5, in which the airmotors 40, 40<1>, 40<11> for the rudder, ailerons and elevator and a bomb-release motor 40<111> are connected to pipes 54 ... 58 connected by a common pipe 53 to the vacuum tank 11. Common pipe 53 is controlled by a normally open master valve 67 and pipes 54 ... 58 are controlled by separate normally closed valves 54<1> ... 58<1> selectively operated by step-by-step ratchet mechanism controlled by wireless impulses. The impulses are repeated by relay 81 to an electrically controlled normally open valve 74. When the valve is closed by an impulse, bellows 71, 72 collapse due to their connection to vacuum tank 11, bellows 71 operating pawl-and-ratchet mechanism 70, 76 and bellows 72 operating a holding pawl 77, but only in response to an impulse of a predetermined length since bellows 72 is slower than 71. The ratchet shaft 69 carries cam 54<11> . . . 58<11> to open selected valves 54<1> . . . 58<1>. The selected motor 40 . . . 40<111> is not, however, operated until master valve 67 is closed by bellows 78 which operates slowly under control of dashpot 67<1>. In a modified form of gyroregulator, the nozzles 7, 8 are replaced by electrically-controlled air valves, the follow-up contact being operated in the manner described above. Specification 227,489, [Class 40 (i)], also is referred to.
