PURPOSE: A semi-reflective LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to form a cell gap of a TP(Transmissive Portion) twice as much, compared to a cell gap of a reflective portion(RP), so that the transmittance of the TP and RP is optimized and then the luminance is enhance, thereby improving a view angle of light and a response speed. CONSTITUTION: A ferroelectric liquid crystal(48) is interposed between upper and lower plates(UP,DP). A reflective electrode(36) is formed within the inside of the lower plate. Upper/lower phase difference plates(52,56) and upper/lower polarizing plates(54,58) are attached at the outside of the upper and lower plates(UP,DP). A backlight unit(60) is positioned at the rear surface of the lower polarizing plate(58). The backlight unit(60) generates light which transmitted to a display region corresponding to the TP.
