PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that provides images without noises and disturbance caused by adjustments in the number of pixels. SOLUTION: A pixel timing adjusting device 30 uses an FIFO memory 36 with a capacity of one line or more and detects any reading error that might occur between the count 34d of input data obtained by sampling, line by line, image signals supplied at a reading control part 38 and a count 38e involving misalignment equal to a predetermined value (n/2). Even if these errors are accumulated at each line, and a phase difference caused by those of the errors in the number of pixels which occur in the direction in which the errors decrease is increased, output inhibit signals 38f are output for an avoidance process for reading addresses or an absorption process for the accumulated errors to prevent their influence, so as to control reading from the FIFO memory 36.
