PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a polyimide film of which the surface defect is improved by preventing the contamination of a roll caused by the unreacted polymerizable substance, lower polymer or the like oozing out from the interior of the polyimide film during a polyimide film manufacturing process. SOLUTION: As a metal roll of every kind used for supporting or stretching a gel film on the way from a film forming process to a drying process when the polymide film is manufactured, a metal roll having an amorphous Cr plating layer with a thickness of 0.2-7μm applied to its surface is used.
