PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively prevent a throwaway tip from rotating around a clamp in a throwaway ball end mill mounting the throwaway tip of approximately elliptic plate shape. SOLUTION: In this throwaway ball end mill, the throwaway tip 45 of approximately elliptic plate shape is fitted to a tip mounting pocket 23 formed at the tip part of an end mill body 1, and the throwaway tip 45 is fixed to the end mill body 1 at a negative axial rake angle. In the throwaway tip 45, a flank formed along a cutting edge 15 of circular arc shape is provided with a cutout plane 11 adjacent to a seated surface 13. The tip mounting pocket 23 is provided with a flat wall 2A for the cutout plane on which the cutout plane 11 of the throwaway tip 45 entirely abut.
