PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior toner that controls the release of silica particulates or titanium oxide particulates to maintain the uniform electrostatic charging for a long time. SOLUTION: The toner is obtained by adding additives to the basic powder containing binder resin and coloring matters in multistep treatments and further adding long chain fatty acid or its salt powder in the final step. The additives such as negatively charged silica particulates, titanium oxide particulates, or positively charged silica particulate are added in the multistep treatments. The additives are adhered to the basic toner powder depending on the relation of the work function of the additives and the basic toner powder, or the electrostatic attraction between the additives and the basic toner powder. Further, the adhesion of the long chain fatty acid or its salt added in the final step controls the additives releasing from the basic toner powder, and the uniform electrostatic charging is maintained for a long time.
