PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image adjusting method and an image forming apparatus capable of efficiently adjusting color-matching in a short period of time while suppressing the useless consumption of developer etc., in the case of adjusting the color-matching, and to provide a computer program. SOLUTION: In the whole color-matching adjustment area (100 dots), a density mean value is detected in a measuring area (nearly 10 dots) corresponding to the pitch of a detection pattern, and then, a value proposed as a correction value for an exposure timing of an adjustment image is obtained from a maximum detection value within the color-matching adjustment area. By performing the aforesaid processing with respect to two kinds of detection patterns having different pitches, two values proposed as the correction value are obtained, then, the correction value for the exposure timing is obtained from the value matched in both detection patterns.
