METHOD FOR EFFECTIVELY AND PRODUCTIVELY READING CMOS IMAGERS HAVING DUAL ROW ACCESS CAPABILITY

PURPOSE: A method for effectively and productively reading CMOS imagers having dual row access capability is provided to read adjacent rows at the same time, and allow perfect color reproduction of an image detected by an imager. CONSTITUTION: An image array(40) includes n rows and m columns. A first image field is completed by reading and storing pixel values(42,44,46) of pairs of adjacent rows of the image array in order. The reading is started from the first row, and the reading is stopped when rows less than 3 are read. The first row is read and discarded before reading a second image field. The second image field is completed by reading and storing pixel values(52,54) of pairs of adjacent rows in order. The reading is started the second row. The reading is stopped when rows less than 2 are read. The final row pairs are read and discarded.
